Level 2 British Sign Language (BSL) Course - Online

The Signature Accredited Level 2 in British Sign Language (BSL) is a qualification designed to teach learners to communicate with deaf people using BSL in a range of everyday situations. The qualification will allow learners to participate in longer and more varied conversations than at Level 1.  The learners are able to deal with most routine communication and have enough understanding of grammar to cope with some non-routine communication, gain basic skills and confidence in production and reception of BSL.

To achieve the Level 2 Award in British Sign Language (BSL), learners must pass all 3 units:

• BSL 201 -  Receptive skills - Everyday Conversation (15-25 minutes assessment)
• BSL 202 -  Productive skills - Travel & Holidays (3-5 minutes assessment)
• BSL 203 -  Conversational skills - Eating & Drinking (6-7 minutes assessment)

The Level 2 Award is suitable for those who:

• want to achieve language skills at an intermediate level to improve communication with deaf people
• are deaf and wish to gain a qualification in their native language
• are family, friends and colleagues of deaf people
• want to progress from Level 1 study in BSL and who may want to progress to more advanced levels of study in BSL at a later date
• are studying for personal development

The course will be on Mondays online via Zoom, 6:30pm-8:30pm for 34 weeks, in term time only. In addition to the course, learners are required to commit to 50 hours of independent study.

Assessments dates

• 14th July - BSL 201 - Receptive skills - Everyday conversation (30 minute assessment)
• 21st July - BSL 202 - Eating & Drinking - Productive Skills  (4-5 minute assessment) 
• 28th July - BSL 203 - Travel & Holidays - Conversational Skills (6-7 minute assessment)

£750 (+ service fee)

£50 deposit

£70 monthly instalments x 10

Those who have deaf children can apply for funding, please go to Birkdale Trust or Ovingdean Hall Trust.
